Since its launch last year, WhatsApp Channels has undergone significant enhancements, with Meta continually introducing new features to improve user experience. The platform’s latest experiment is a QR code sharing functionality, now available in beta, that streamlines the process of discovering, following, and sharing Channels. This feature can be accessed on the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for both iOS and Android devices, with broader availability anticipated soon.
Exporting WhatsApp Channel QR Codes to Other Applications
This new QR code capability was uncovered by WABetaInfo, a reliable source for app feature updates. Users participating in the beta program and using WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.25.7 or iOS version 24.24.10.76 can begin testing this functionality now.
Users who manage an existing WhatsApp Channel and have the feature enabled can access their Channel information panel. From there, they can select options to generate a unique QR code for their Channel.
Once generated, the QR code can be shared directly through WhatsApp or via any other messaging platforms. Since the QR code is an image, it can also be sent through email or printed out, which may be particularly beneficial for businesses looking to facilitate an easy follow mechanism for their customers.
At present, the timeline for a stable rollout of the QR code sharing feature to all users remains uncertain. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is exploring other additions, including the ability to share complete sticker packs, an image lookup feature for ‘Search on the web’, and improved contact management across devices. These features are being refined through ongoing beta testing before a public release.
