Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of Gran Turismo and president of Polyphony Digital, stated in a recent announcement on the PlayStation Blog that the game aims to inspire a love for racing, whether for children experiencing it for the first time or for adults rekindling a past interest. He emphasized that My First Gran Turismo is designed to be enjoyable and immersive, catering to players of all ages and driving abilities.
Yamauchi elaborated on the game’s intuitive design, ensuring that players can easily grasp the fundamentals of the driving mechanics that define the series. “By engaging with this game, users will gain confidence progressively, facing new challenges that will enhance their driving skills,” he mentioned.
Features of My First Gran Turismo
The game includes a variety of content, featuring three racing events, three time trials, and three music rally stages, alongside a comprehensive set of license tests. Players can engage with numerous challenges, aiming for record-setting performances and achievements.
Additionally, My First Gran Turismo offers trivia and historical insights into the real-life vehicles featured in the game, functioning as an in-game encyclopedia to deepen players’ understanding. Users will have the chance to collect cars, learn driving techniques at the license center, and participate in races, time trials, and practice runs, essentially serving as a free trial for Gran Turismo 7.
The experience includes 18 distinct cars and gameplay on renowned Gran Turismo tracks like Kyoto Driving Park, Deep Forest Raceway, and Trial Mountain Circuit.
Moreover, PlayStation VR2 compatibility for PS5 players will enhance the driving simulation, delivering a more immersive experience. My First Gran Turismo will be available via the PlayStation Store on December 6.
The latest major installment in the Gran Turismo series, Gran Turismo 7, was launched on March 4, 2022, for both PS4 and PS5. A review by Gadgets 360 noted that while the game excelled on the track, it fell short in terms of the excitement and character found in contemporary racing titles.
