It has also been confirmed that the newest Call of Duty entry will receive a dedicated presentation immediately following the showcase.
A report from Insider Gaming indicates that Id Software plans to reveal details about the next Doom game at the Expo next month. Development for this title has reportedly been ongoing for a minimum of four years, initially under the working title ‘Year Zero.’ This report speculates that Doom: The Dark Ages may indeed be the final name for the project. At this time, further specifics about the game remain undisclosed.
The Xbox Games Showcase is set for June 9 and will not only feature updates on previously announced titles such as Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle but may also provide fresh insights into the next Gears of War installment.
Moreover, Microsoft and Activision have confirmed that the presentation that follows the Xbox showcase will focus on the next Call of Duty game, which is officially titled Black Ops 6. The Xbox Games Showcase will showcase an upcoming lineup of games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios, alongside several third-party titles for the Xbox platform.
Id Software, the creator of Doom, operates under Bethesda, which Microsoft acquired in 2021. The most recent title in the series, Doom Eternal, was released on various platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox in 2020. Speculation suggests that the new Doom title may launch exclusively on Xbox and PC.
