On Thursday at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Netflix unveiled Spirit Crossing, marking its entry into the realm of Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) cooperative gaming. Developed by the company’s in-house studio, Spry Fox, this cozy life simulation game allows players to collaborate in resource gathering and village building. It is set to launch on Netflix’s gaming subscription service later this year. In addition, Netflix announced two more titles for its gaming platform, including The Electric State: Kids Cosmo, which is already available.
Spirit Crossing Set for 2025
Spirit Crossing stands as Netflix’s first major MMO cooperative game and is referred to as the “biggest title to date” from Spry Fox, according to a press release.
The game is described as a joyful adventure in a delightful world, emphasizing friendship to create a sense of connection among players.
Players can expect to explore an “ever-changing landscape,” where they can build and decorate their village alongside friends, as well as meet new players and engage in activities such as gliding, climbing, building, and trampolining.
An announcement trailer for Spirit Crossing showcased the game’s vibrant art style and immersive world, highlighting various gameplay elements.
Individuals interested in early access can now register for a closed alpha playtest at playspiritcrossing.com. The game will be available on Android and iOS devices within the year.
Additionally, Netflix presented The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, a tie-in with its upcoming feature film, The Electric State. Set before the events of the movie, this 80s-inspired puzzle adventure game focuses on siblings Chris and Michelle. Players can access The Electric State: Kid Cosmo now through Netflix Games.
Lastly, the company introduced Steel Paws, set in an original universe crafted by renowned Japanese game designer Yu Suzuki, known for legendary franchises such as Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, and Out Run. This game challenges players to conquer a legendary tower that resurfaces every century, aided by robotic companions called Buddy Robots. Steel Paws is scheduled for release on Netflix on March 25.
