Netflix hosted its Tudum Global Fan Event in Los Angeles over the weekend, unveiling a lineup of anticipated programming. Notable revelations included the trailer for the third and final season of Squid Game, the first six minutes of Wednesday Season 2, a teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein, and exciting date announcements for the concluding season of Stranger Things along with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

(Warning: Some spoilers ahead.)

Squid Game Season 3

The initial season of Squid Game introduced viewers to Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-Jae), a desperate gambler who joins a deadly competition featuring children’s games, where losing means death. The season concluded with a climactic face-off against his childhood friend Cho Sang-woo (Park Hae-soo), leading to a haunting conclusion where Gi-hun won but could not bring himself to kill his friend, who ultimately took his own life.

Season 2 picks up three years later, highlighting Gi-hun’s determination for revenge against the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), as well as his friend Jun-ho’s (Wi Ha-joon) desperate search for the game’s location. This season escalated tensions and alliances, ending on a gripping cliffhanger following significant betrayals and the loss of Player 390.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk initially envisioned Seasons 2 and 3 as a single season but opted to divide them due to the extensive content. Earlier this year, Netflix teased the third season with a brief clip showcasing a new killer doll named Chul-su, reminiscent of the “Red Light, Green Light” giant.

The official synopsis reveals a story steeped in betrayal, loss, and desperation as Gi-hun, or Player 456, finds himself in an even darker situation. The new season promises to delve into Gi-hun’s agonizing choices in a deadly game progression, with the Front Man resuming his role amid emerging threats. Viewers can expect the final season of Squid Game to premiere on Netflix on June 27, 2025.

Wednesday Season 2

In a captivating introduction to Season 2 of Wednesday, star Jenna Ortega brought a fresh interpretation to the beloved character. Footage released during Tudum showcased the first six minutes of the season, featuring a theatrical performance by Lady Gaga, who emerged from a coffin to deliver spine-tingling tunes, including “Bloody Mary.”

The main cast is set to return for Season 2, with Ortega being joined by Emma Myers as Enid and Joy Sunday as Bianca. Iconic roles are reprised by Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia Addams, along with Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Notable guest appearances include Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems and Christina Ricci’s character, both of whom will not return. However, new faces like Joanna Lumley as Morticia’s mother, Hester Frump, along with Steve Buscemi as Nevermore’s new principal, Barry Dort, will be introduced.

Season 2 will be split into two parts, with Part 1 debuting on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 to follow on September 3, 2025.

Stranger Things Season 5

The journey of Hawkins’ residents is nearing its end as they prepare for a climactic confrontation with the dark forces that have haunted them since the show’s inception. The fifth season will consist of eight lengthy episodes, comparable to feature films.

Returning cast members include Amybeth McNulty and Gabriella Pizzolo, along with Jamie Campbell Bower who reprises his role as the formidable Vecna. New entrants to the show include Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay, alongside Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux in various roles.

Following the catastrophic events of Season 4, which saw Vecna breach the gates between worlds, Season 5 will introduce a time jump, coinciding with the third anniversary of Will’s disappearance. The storyline will unfold in the fall of 1987, depicting Hawkins grappling with the aftermath of the Rifts as the heroes unite to locate and confront the vanished Vecna, all while coping with a heightened military presence searching for Eleven.

Stranger Things’ final season will roll out in three volumes: Volume 1 on November 26, 2025, Volume 2 on December 25, 2025, and the series finale on December 31, 2025.

Frankenstein

Director Guillermo del Toro’s long-anticipated adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is finally coming to fruition, showcasing his signature horrifying and visually stunning style. The project has been in development for over a decade, marking another chapter in the many interpretations of Shelley’s timeless tale.

The narrative follows a talented yet arrogant scientist who brings a creature to life, igniting a tragic chain of events for both creator and creature in 19th century Eastern Europe. Oscar Isaac leads the cast as Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi portraying the creature. Supporting roles feature Christopher Waltz as Dr. Pretorious, Mia Goth as Elizabeth, and other notable actors like Felix Kammerer and Charles Dance in undisclosed roles.

Frankenstein is set to premiere on Netflix in November 2025.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

The Knives Out franchise, helmed by Rian Johnson, is set to draw audiences back for a third installment, featuring Daniel Craig’s iconic detective Benoit Blanc. Titled Wake Up Dead Man, the film will debut shortly before Christmas this year.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be available on Netflix starting December 12, 2025.
