Microsoft has announced the broad availability of its artificial intelligence features on Copilot Plus PCs fitted with Intel and AMD processors. Among these enhancements is Live Captions, a feature that provides real-time translation of audio into English subtitles, supporting multiple languages.
The company began trialing Live Captions last December, and it is now part of the latest Windows 11 update. This update also introduces Cocreator, an AI tool within the Paint application that generates images based on written descriptions and ongoing drawings. In addition, Microsoft is expanding the availability of its AI-powered image editor and generator within the Photos app.
Previously, these features were exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs utilizing Qualcomm processors. Microsoft had begun testing Recall, another AI feature that allows users to capture screenshots of their activities on Copilot Plus PCs and search through them, with Intel and AMD devices last year. The timeline for broader availability remains unconfirmed.
Moreover, Microsoft is enhancing Voice Access, an accessibility option enabling voice-controlled operations on Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus devices. Users of Voice Access on these machines will soon be able to use more nuanced and flexible language to interact with their PCs. Additionally, the ability to translate 27 languages into Simplified Chinese is being introduced, with future plans to extend these capabilities to Intel and AMD devices.
