On Wednesday, Microsoft initiated public testing for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot designed specifically for Xbox gamers, known as Copilot for Gaming. Available in the beta version of the Xbox app on both iOS and Android devices, the Redmond-based firm has stated that the AI chatbot is capable of addressing game-related queries, offering tips to navigate difficult levels, and recommending games based on the user’s playing history. The company has encouraged beta testers to share their experiences and feedback on this new feature.
Copilot for Gaming Introduced as a Second-Screen Tool for Gamers
In a recent blog post, the Xbox division of Microsoft outlined the rollout of this chatbot to a select group of individuals. The initial testing phase of Copilot for Gaming is currently accessible to those utilizing the beta version of the Xbox app on iOS and Android platforms. At this stage, the feature is offered in English and is available to players aged 18 and older.
Copilot for Gaming is being trialed across a variety of regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United States. However, the AI chatbot is not yet available in European Union countries or the United Kingdom, with plans to include these regions in subsequent updates.

The chatbot functions as a second screen, allowing gamers to engage with it without being distracted from their gameplay. Copilot for Gaming can analyze the user’s Xbox activity, which includes account details, play history, and achievements, helping tailor its responses accordingly. Additionally, it can pull information from the web to further assist users.
With this iteration of Copilot for Gaming, users have the option to ask questions about any game. For example, inquiries can range from seeking materials necessary for crafting a sword in Minecraft to strategies for defeating a boss in Hogwarts Legacy. Users can also solicit gaming recommendations by describing their preferences or seeking suggestions based on their previous gaming experiences.
Furthermore, players can inquire about their gaming history or account specifics, including questions related to Xbox achievements or subscription information.
