Microsoft has officially announced significant adjustments to the pricing structure for its Microsoft 365 Copilot offerings, particularly for sales, service, and finance tools. This development comes following a previous report on expected changes.
Businesses currently face a monthly charge of $30 per user for access to business Copilot. Additionally, the standalone options for Sales, Service, and Finance, previously available at an extra $20 per user, will now be included at no additional cost for all Microsoft 365 Copilot users starting in October, accessible via the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store.
This pricing overhaul effectively reduces the costs for many of Microsoft’s premier AI tools to $30 per user per month, contrasting with the previous total of $50 per user for both Microsoft 365 Copilot and the additional Copilot offerings.
Internally, Microsoft is framing this move as a strategy to simplify Copilot subscriptions for businesses while advancing the integration of more AI capabilities within its productivity suite. Sources suggest that Agent 365, a new set of tools for managing AI agents and ensuring compliance and security requirements are fulfilled, will be unveiled at the upcoming Microsoft Ignite event.
In a notable shift, Microsoft is reportedly looking to incorporate Anthropic’s AI models for certain features within Microsoft 365. According to The Information, the upcoming Copilot will be partially powered by Anthropic’s models, which have demonstrated superior performance to OpenAI’s in applications like Excel and PowerPoint. This decision highlights potential dissatisfaction with OpenAI’s GPT-5 model in comparison to some of Claude Sonnet 4’s capabilities.
