Meta is reportedly working on advanced vision software that can identify individuals by name, according to a recent report by The Information. The technology giant is said to be developing two pairs of smart glasses, dubbed Aperol and Bellini, slated for release next year. The company has also modified its approach to evaluating privacy and safety measures to expedite product launches.

Apart from facial recognition capabilities, Meta’s AI software can be initiated with the command “Hey Meta, start live AI.” This technology may eventually offer features such as reminders to fetch forgotten items like keys or groceries while navigating your daily routine. The super-sensing function will enable the device’s cameras and sensors to remain operational at all times, allowing the AI to monitor user activities continually.

The company is said to be evaluating live AI functionality on existing models, although this currently limits battery life to about 30 minutes. Meta aims for its new glasses, and potentially a pair of camera-equipped earphones, to operate the software for extended periods on a single charge.
