Meta AI is set to receive significant enhancements, as the tech company recently unveiled its latest Llama 3 artificial intelligence models. Announced on Thursday, the new Llama 3 8B and 70B models promise enhanced capabilities compared to their predecessors. In conjunction with this launch, Meta has upgraded its native AI assistant, which now boasts improved efficiency in responses, faster image generation, and even real-time image animation.
The company detailed the advancements in a newsroom post, stating that Meta AI is accessible at no cost to users who have an account on any of its platforms. The social media giant first introduced the AI assistant at Meta Connect 2023, subsequently integrating it into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in the United States. The assistant has seen recent expansion into India and is now being rolled out to additional countries, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
With the integration of Llama 3, the AI assistant is not only providing quicker responses and improved image quality but is also gaining new functionalities and broader integration across various interfaces. A notable enhancement is the real-time image generation feature, which allows users to see visual output as they type. As users refine their prompts, the AI will adjust the image accordingly, making it easier for them to achieve desired outcomes.
Additionally, the update includes new image animation features and editing capabilities. If users are not satisfied with the generated images, they can request modifications or even explore the option of animating the image into a GIF format.
Meta is also increasing the visibility of its chatbot by incorporating it into various touchpoints. Users will now see the AI assistant featured in their Facebook feed beneath posts, accompanied by a Meta AI logo and suggested queries. Moreover, the assistant will be integrated into search functionality across all platforms, allowing users to type questions in the search bars of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger. This includes inquiries about real-time updates, such as flight prices or stock market information. It is important to note that Meta’s AI leverages both Google and Bing for search results, although users cannot choose which search engine is utilized.
Furthermore, Meta has launched a dedicated meta.ai website, providing users with a platform to chat with the AI, solve math problems, or generate content without needing to access their social media accounts. This initiative appears to cater to users who prefer a more professional setting or wish to keep their social media activities separate. Conversations on this platform can also be saved for future reference.
