At Computex 2024 on Sunday, Asus unveiled the globally anticipated ROG Ally X. The company originally teased the successor to the ROG Ally in April, with details about its features and specifications emerging shortly before its official announcement. This handheld gaming PC runs on Windows 11 and boasts several notable upgrades compared to its predecessor, with a larger battery being a key highlight. It also features hardware improvements, including a 120Hz display, 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and an 80Wh battery.

Asus ROG Ally X Price and Availability

The Asus ROG Ally X is currently available for pre-order, starting at $799 (approximately Rs. 66,000). It is set to hit the market in July 2024 and will come with a three-month complimentary subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Features and Specifications of Asus ROG Ally X

The ROG Ally X is equipped with a 7-inch full-HD IPS display that features a 120Hz refresh rate and a 7ms response time. The screen achieves a peak brightness of 500 nits, boasts complete sRGB coverage, and is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Additionally, it incorporates AMD’s FreeSync Premium technology to minimize screen tearing.

At its core, the handheld gaming PC utilizes a 4nm AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor with a Zen 4 architecture that includes 8 cores. This is coupled with an RDNA 3 integrated GPU and 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM, supporting dual-channel memory configurations. It offers 1TB of storage through a PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD and operates on Windows 11.

Asus has integrated a built-in fingerprint sensor and a Microsoft Pluton security processor into the ROG Ally X for enhanced security. For audio, it features a dual-speaker system that supports Dolby Atmos and Smart Amplifier Technology. Additional audio enhancements include Smart Amp Technology and AI noise cancellation, alongside an integrated microphone and Hi-Res certification for connected headphones.

The device houses an upgraded 80Wh 4-cell Li-ion battery, which is larger than that found in the basic model. It supports a 65W charging capability via USB Type-C. Connectivity options include a Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort capabilities, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a UHS-II microSD card reader. It also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Measuring 28.0 x 11.1 x 2.47 cm and weighing 678g, the Asus ROG Ally X is designed to be portable while delivering high-performance gaming experiences.
