Alogic, an Australian manufacturer known for its wide range of electronic products, launched its Clarity series of premium monitors in India in October of the previous year. The series features four models, with the highest-end version boasting up to 5K resolution and touch capabilities. Although Alogic may not be a household name, it is esteemed for producing high-quality, aesthetically pleasing monitors that offer significant value with impressive color accuracy.

Recently, I had the opportunity to test the Alogic Clarity 27 4K monitor, the entry-level model in the series priced at Rs. 59,990. This monitor combines a premium aesthetic reminiscent of the Apple Studio Display with functionalities that include HDR 600 rating and a color-accurate IPS panel. It comes with a versatile stand and a built-in USB hub providing multiple connectivity options. But does it justify its price tag? Let’s take a closer look.

Alogic Clarity 27 4K Monitor Design

To put it simply, the Alogic Clarity 27 4K is one of the most visually appealing monitors I have encountered. It exudes a premium feel from every angle. While I would have preferred slightly thinner bezels, the overall design remains striking. The monitor draws inspiration from the Apple Studio Display, which only adds to its allure.

The aluminum stand easily snaps onto the back of the monitor, requiring no screws.

The silver finish, combined with aluminum, ABS, and glass materials, provides a sophisticated touch that complements both Mac and Windows setups. Its aesthetics would harmonize well alongside a Mac mini, MacBook, or Mac Studio but would be equally appealing with a Windows machine.

The design features machined holes on the rear panel, reminiscent of the Apple Studio Display.

The back of the monitor showcases a curved design with machined holes that promote ventilation and enhance visual appeal. The construction quality is superb, and I did not detect any flaws or gaps in the panel. Interestingly, the rear of the monitor appears more sophisticated due to its all-glass, glossy front.

The front features an all-glass panel with slightly thicker bezels.

The front of the monitor has somewhat thicker bezels compared to many other monitors I’ve used, though they contribute to its premium appearance. The display is free from branding, and a small cutout in the top-right corner accommodates an auto-brightness sensor.

The top-right corner includes a sensor for automatically adjusting brightness.

The bottom edge hosts five buttons, allowing you to control power, input source, volume, and other display settings.

Five buttons are located on the bottom side for functionality.

One feature I appreciated even more than the design itself is the included aluminum stand, which supports a weight of about 7.6 kg for the monitor. This stand facilitates a plethora of adjustments. In my experience with various monitors, I have never encountered one with such extensive customization options.

The stand is robust and ensures stability.

The stand features a thoughtful design that includes a cutout for cable management and offers adjustments for pivot, tilt, swivel, and height. It allows a height increase of up to 150mm and supports a tilt of 25 degrees. Easy to install, the stand does not require screws, and the monitor also supports a VESA mount.

The stand’s versatility and design is commendable.

In terms of connectivity, the Alogic Clarity monitor is equipped with an 8-port hub located at the back. This hub includes dual USB Type-A ports, a USB Type-B port, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB Type-C port with 90W power passthrough, a DisplayPort 1.4 output, and an AUX output. Additionally, a power input and a 180W adapter are provided.

The 8-port hub stands out as a significant feature of the monitor.

Included in the box are four cables: an HDMI cable, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a USB Type-A to Type-B cable, and a DisplayPort cable.

Alogic Clarity 27 4K Monitor Performance

The Clarity 27 monitor delivers stunning 4K resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate, achieving a pixel density of 163 ppi. The IPS panel features Quantum Dot LED technology, resulting in vibrant color reproduction. Watching HDR content was particularly enjoyable, and while gaming was satisfactory, I would suggest a monitor with a higher refresh rate for dedicated gaming purposes. For creative tasks such as video and photo editing, this display excelled.

The display offers a vibrant and colorful experience.

Alogic claims the Clarity 27 covers a color gamut of 130 percent NTSC, 97 percent DCI-P3, 100 percent sRGB, and 99 percent Adobe RGB. The monitor arrives pre-calibrated, and users can adjust the colors via on-screen display (OSD) settings, though the interface could benefit from enhancements.

The display offers support for HDR 600 content.

The monitor supports HDR 600 content, ensuring deep blacks and bright highlights, with a peak brightness of 400 nits, which was sufficient during testing. The viewing angles are impressive at 178 degrees; however, reflections may be a concern in brightly lit conditions. While the glossy glass panel adds a premium touch, it may also lead to distractions in direct light.

Throughout the review, I primarily utilized the monitor with my MacBook Air. The USB Type-C port allows for 90W power passthrough and data transfer, enabling me to use just one cable for charging and as an external display. Concurrently, I connected a PC via HDMI, with seamless switching between devices.

The Alogic logo is discreetly located on the back of the monitor.

The monitor features dual 5W speakers, but lacks microphones or a webcam. The audio is sufficient for casual viewing, but for a better audio experience, connecting external speakers or headphones is recommended.

In summary, the Clarity 27 4K monitor from Alogic excels regarding color performance and HDR capabilities. Its connectivity options and the exceptional stand are particularly impressive.

Alogic Clarity 27 4K Monitor Verdict

At a price of Rs. 59,990, the Alogic Clarity 27 4K may not cater to all needs, especially considering that alternative 4K monitors with higher refresh rates are available at lower prices. Nevertheless, for users focusing on color accuracy for tasks like video and photo editing on a Mac, it represents a solid choice. Its standout features include a high-end design, an incredibly adjustable stand, and good display quality with HDR 600 support. The built-in hub enhances connectivity options and allows laptop charging via USB Type-C.

The Clarity 27 4K also serves as a viable alternative to the Apple Studio Display, offering similar functionalities at a significantly lower price point.

  • 8-port hub
  • 4K at 60Hz
  • Outstanding color accuracy
