On Wednesday, MediaTek announced the launch of its latest mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9400e, in China. This new product positions itself as a competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. The Dimensity 9400e is built on an All Big Core CPU architecture, featuring four Cortex-X4 cores running at 3.4GHz, alongside a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU that supports hardware ray tracing. Additionally, the chipset enables the operation of various large language models directly on devices and facilitates Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity.
Availability of MediaTek Dimensity 9400e
MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e is set to appear in smartphones in the upcoming weeks. The initial models featuring this chipset will be released by Realme and OnePlus by late May.
Realme has announced that the Realme GT 7 will debut in India on May 27, powered by the Dimensity 9400e. Meanwhile, the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition (or Ultra) will be launched in China featuring the same processor.
Specifications of MediaTek Dimensity 9400e
Utilizing TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process technology, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e employs an All Big Core CPU architecture. It comprises four Arm Cortex-X4 cores with a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz and four Cortex-A720 big cores operating at 2GHz. The chipset includes a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU that delivers mobile ray tracing capabilities.
To enhance smartphone performance, MediaTek has integrated its APU 790 within the Dimensity 9400e, enabling generative AI functionalities. This chipset allows for on-device processing of large language models, such as DeepSeek-R1-Distill (Qwen1.5B/Llama7B/Llama8B) and Gemini Nano with Multimodality, as well as LLaVA-1.5 7B.
Devices powered by the Dimensity 9400e will support Wi-Fi 7, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS and NavIC integration. Phones utilizing this chipset can feature a rear camera with up to 320 megapixels and support video recording capabilities of up to 8K at 30 frames per second or 4K at 60 frames per second. According to MediaTek, the Bluetooth connectivity can extend up to 5 kilometers in open line of sight between compatible devices.
