A new gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country was unveiled on Thursday, along with the confirmation of its release date. The action-adventure game is set to debut on August 8, 2025, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. 2K has announced that pre-orders are now available on all platforms for the title, which serves as a prequel to the original Mafia game. The standard retail price for the game will be $49.99 (Rs. 3,799 in India) for consoles.
Official Release Date for Mafia: The Old Country
This fourth installment in the Mafia series will explore the roots of organized crime and the Cosa Nostra in a gritty narrative set in early 1900s Sicily. Players will follow the story of Enzo Favara, a young man who swears allegiance to the Mafia and climbs the ranks of the Torrisi crime family.
Developer Hangar 13 has highlighted that the game will feature a “brutal” and “immersive” linear storyline, enhanced by stunning visuals and cinematic storytelling that emphasizes realism.
Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13, remarked in a statement, “Mafia: The Old Country is designed as a focused, linear experience that merges high-quality storytelling with authentic immersion into the era, providing a refined take on the traditional Mafia gameplay. This focus enables us to deliver a narrative that is gritty, grounded, brutal, and emotional. Set in early 1900s Sicily, the game is an origin story that follows the protagonist, Enzo Favara, as he takes the Mafia oath and makes his way up within Don Torrisi’s organization.”
Focus on Linear Gameplay
Hangar 13 clarified that Mafia: The Old Country will steer away from the open-world format seen in previous titles. Instead, the game will prioritize a linear narrative that does not demand extensive time commitments from players.
Despite the absence of an open world, players will have the opportunity to traverse the beautifully crafted map on horses and period-appropriate vehicles, as showcased in the newly released gameplay trailer. The trailer highlights an immersive and visually striking gameplay style reminiscent of linear narratives found in titles from Naughty Dog.

Mafia: The Old Country will be offered in both Standard and Deluxe editions, with pre-orders currently available on PC (via Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The Standard Edition will include the full base game for $49.99 (Rs. 3,799 in India on PlayStation Store and Rs. 2,899 on Steam).
The Deluxe Edition will feature the Padrino Pack, which consists of the “Lupara Speciale” shotgun, “Vendetti Speciale” pistol, “Immortale” charm, “Padrino” outfit, “Stiletto Speciale” knife, “Eckhart Speciale” limousine, and “Cosimo” horse along with its accessories. Additionally, it will include the Gatto Nero Pack, featuring the “Bodeo Nero” pistol, “Velocità” charm, “Gatto Nero” racing outfit, and “Carozella Nero” race car.
