The development of the sequel to Lords of the Fallen is currently underway, with a target release date set for 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. Internally referred to as “Project III,” the game has yet to receive an official title, but CI Games, the publisher, has revealed fresh insights into the forthcoming installment. Lords of the Fallen 2 is now in full production and is expected to be unveiled next year, maintaining its goal for a 2026 launch.

Lords of the Fallen Sequel

In a recent financial report that outlines its strategic direction and plans for 2025-2028, CI Games provided additional details regarding the sequel alongside its portfolio of games scheduled for release in the next three years. Project III is confirmed to be in full production at Hexworks, the development team behind the original game. Similar to the 2023 title, this sequel will utilize Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 for its development.

CI Games anticipates that Lords of the Fallen 2 will appeal to both current fans and a broader audience. The report indicates that the upcoming Soulslike game will introduce several gameplay enhancements, including more diverse game modes, an approachable art style and narrative, as well as improved production values.

Moreover, Lords of the Fallen 2 will incorporate “full ‘shared-progression’ co-op,” alongside its primary single-player experience.

The game’s announcement is scheduled for 2025, and the marketing campaign will leverage the enhanced brand awareness generated by the substantial promotional efforts surrounding the 2023 release, according to the publisher. The official launch is slated for sometime in 2026.

As previously confirmed in June, the game will be an exclusive title on the Epic Games Store for PC, following an agreement with Epic Games that grants them “exclusive worldwide distribution rights” for the sequel on this platform. CI Games also noted in its latest financial report that it has secured “major investment” from Epic for this PC exclusivity.

Other Projects in Development

Aside from the Lords of the Fallen sequel, CI Games is also progressing with two additional projects currently in the pre-production phase, both expected to launch by 2028. The first, known as “Project SGW Evolved,” represents the next chapter in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise and is also being developed using Unreal Engine 5. This title will combine first-person shooting with survival gameplay, with a planned release in 2027.

The second project, titled “Project H,” is described as a “major action-RPG IP” set within the fantasy genre and is being developed by the Underdog studio. This game will also be built on Unreal Engine 5, and will draw from the systems and structures established in Lords of the Fallen and Project III, targeting a release in 2028.

The reboot of Lords of the Fallen debuted in October 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, available through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
