LinkedIn, the professional networking platform owned by Microsoft, is set to broaden its features, aiming to expand beyond traditional job searches and networking. The company is reportedly planning to introduce games to the platform in an effort to enhance user engagement. This move aligns LinkedIn with other social media giants, such as Facebook and YouTube, which have explored in-app gaming options.

A recent report from TechCrunch indicates that LinkedIn is developing several puzzle-based games, including titles like “Queens,” “Inference,” and “Crossclimb.” Although the platform has confirmed its intention to include gaming, it has not announced a timeline for their release.

“We’re playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations,” a spokesperson for LinkedIn told the publication.

App researcher Nima Owji shared findings on X (formerly Twitter), revealing screenshots that suggest employee performance may influence company rankings in these games. The images showcase three titles — “Blueprint,” “Queens,” and “Crossclimb,” which all appear to involve puzzle-solving elements.

While LinkedIn has acknowledged its gaming aspirations, specific details regarding the total number of games and their genres remain undisclosed. It is possible that these games may be made available to LinkedIn Premium subscribers.

Earlier this month, LinkedIn revealed that its premium subscription service generated $1.7 billion (approximately Rs. 14,091 crore) in revenue in 2023, following the integration of artificial intelligence tools into the platform.

In November of the previous year, YouTube launched “Playables,” an arcade-style collection of over 30 games accessible via its app for premium subscribers on iOS, Android, and Web.
