On Tuesday, Jio introduced JioPC, a virtual desktop platform designed specifically for its JioFiber and Jio AirFiber customers. This innovative, cloud-based service enables users equipped with a keyboard, mouse, and internet access to utilize a virtual desktop through their Jio set-top box. Subscribers will benefit from 100GB of cloud storage and various artificial intelligence (AI) tools. To encourage adoption, the telecom giant is offering a one-month complimentary trial, and the JioPC app comes pre-installed on their devices.
JioPC Pricing and Availability in India
The JioPC service is priced starting at Rs. 599 per month in India, with multiple plans available to meet different user needs. The basic plan provides a month of access, while a two-month subscription is available for Rs. 999.
For a limited time, users can access the six-month and 12-month JioPC plans for Rs. 2,499 and Rs. 4,599, respectively, which include up to 8 and 15 months of service. It is important to note that all prices for JioPC plans exclude GST.
Features and Specifications of JioPC
The JioPC platform operates through the company’s set-top box, where users can utilize the JioPC app available on their devices. JioFiber and Jio AirFiber users can explore the new service with a one-month trial, following which a subscription will be necessary.
This virtual PC, hosted on Jio’s servers, runs on the Ubuntu Linux distribution and features a quad-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 100GB of cloud storage. The plans provide unlimited access to the service.
Jio has highlighted that its cloud-based PC service incorporates robust network-level security to safeguard against malware and viruses. Additionally, it supports various AI tools, including Adobe Express Premium.
To initiate a new JioPC subscription, users can access the JioPC app from the Apps section on their Jio set-top box. Following the selection of Get Started, users will be guided to connect a keyboard and mouse. They can sign in using the contact number associated with their JioFiber or Jio AirFiber account to begin the setup process for their JioPC.
