In a recent announcement, author J.K. Rowling confirmed the upcoming release of three new ebooks in the “Pottermore Presents” series, set to launch on September 6. This new collection will consist of short stories that offer an in-depth exploration of the beloved Harry Potter franchise, featuring excerpts from the Pottermore archives alongside original writings by Rowling herself.

The inaugural trio of “bite-sized ebooks,” or “ebook shorts,” will include titles such as Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists; Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies; and Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide. The cover designs for these works have been created by Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the graphic design duo known as MinaLima, who previously contributed to the visual aesthetic of the Harry Potter films.

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide will explore the spectral inhabitants of the school and investigate the circumstances under which the Sorting Hat is unable to assign a house to a first-year student.

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists will feature original writing by Rowling, including a narrative about Horace Slughorn’s early experiences as the Potions master and his fateful encounter with a young Tom Marvolo Riddle, later known as Voldemort. The book will also delve into the workings of the Ministry of Magic and the notorious wizarding prison, Azkaban.

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies promises to expand on elements from the original seven books. This volume will spotlight the esteemed Minerva McGonagall, providing insights into her character as depicted in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Readers can also expect a feature on Silvanus Kettleburn, the professor of Care of Magical Creatures.

Additionally, the ebooks will reveal the “ruthless roots” of Dolores Umbridge and explain the process by which a witch or wizard becomes a portrait.

The three ebooks will be available in multiple languages—English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish—on September 6. Each ebook is relatively short, with Pesky Poltergeists spanning 63 pages, Dangerous Hobbies comprising 68 pages, and Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide at 79 pages. Priced at $3 (approximately Rs. 200), these titles are currently available for pre-order from platforms such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and Kobo Books.
