The iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be unveiled in September, featuring four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air (or Slim), iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Earlier leaks hinted at a potential redesign for the iPhone 17 Pro, but Mark Gurman from Bloomberg now suggests that significant changes may not materialize. The design of the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to closely resemble that of the iPhone 16 Pro, with some alterations to the rear camera layout.
In his most recent Power On newsletter, Gurman indicates that he does not foresee a particularly striking new appearance for the iPhone 17 Pro. The smartphone’s front design is expected to mirror that of the iPhone 16 Pro, although the rear camera will feature a ‘meaningfully different’ look.
iPhone 17 Pro’s Design Choices
Speculation had circulated that Apple would implement a dual-tone back panel on the iPhone 17 Pro, featuring a dark camera block against a silver body. However, Gurman reports that this may not be the case. “The camera area will be the same color as the rest of the device. That reflects the more incremental design changes Apple is pursuing: The iPhone 17 Pro isn’t a significant departure from current models,” the analyst stated.
Additionally, Gurman noted that more substantial alterations to the iPhone design are projected for 2027, aligning with the device’s 20th anniversary. This could include the launch of a foldable model and an innovative new Pro version.
The iPhone 17 series is set to be officially announced this September. It is reported that the Pro models will feature an aluminum frame and be powered by Apple’s A19 Pro chip, along with 12GB of RAM. In contrast, the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Slim/Air may utilize either an A18 or A19 chip, supporting 8GB of RAM.
