The upcoming iOS 19 update for iPhone users is generating considerable excitement, largely due to its anticipated significant visual redesign—a change that hasn’t occurred in the mobile operating system for quite some time. While the previous version, iOS 18, aimed to introduce advanced Apple Intelligence features, the company has faced difficulties in delivering these capabilities according to initial timelines. Moreover, iOS 19 is expected to add further challenges to the existing bugs that have only recently begun to be addressed with the latest updates to iOS 18.
Following Apple’s announcement of the dates for its Worldwide Developers Conference 2025 (WWDC 25), well-known leaker John Prosser, who had previously shared a mockup of iOS 19’s camera interface, has released a new video that offers iPhone enthusiasts a glimpse into what they can expect from the forthcoming update.
In this latest video, Prosser asserts that the 3D visuals showcased are derived from actual footage of iOS 19 in operation. However, viewers are cautioned to approach the findings with skepticism, as these impressions may come from an early version of the software, and often details change before the final release is made public.
Prosser emphasizes that iOS 19 primarily focuses on visual enhancements rather than introducing a host of new features. It can be characterized as a new theme, boasting a more rounded aesthetic, along with glossy and glass-like transparent design elements. He notes that this visual shift was originally slated for release in the previous year but was postponed to 2025 due to Apple’s concentration on advancing Apple Intelligence.
The intended visual refresh aligns with the anticipated design changes for the upcoming iPhone 17 series, which have been frequently leaked in recent months. This reimagined design, inspired by visionOS, will not only affect the operating system but will also be integrated into all native applications. Certain elements of this new design philosophy have already surfaced in the Apple Sports and Apple Invites apps, presented as compact menus.
According to Prosser, the keyboard in iOS 19 appears to “float,” resembling standard iOS keys now set against a transparent background. Similar transparent designs can be expected for buttons and other user interface components across various native applications. This modernization introduces shiny edges, causing interface elements to stand out, which notably diverges from the traditional flat design that has characterized iOS in recent years.
Conversely, Mark Gurman, an industry insider known for his accurate predictions, cautioned that many of the floating mockups circulating online are based on outdated iterations of iOS 19. In a recent post on X, Gurman asserted that these depictions lack numerous essential features that he anticipates Apple will unveil during the June WWDC 25 event.
