On Tuesday, Instagram unveiled a suite of new features aimed at helping creators monitor their audience growth metrics more effectively. The Meta-owned platform is introducing insights for likes on both photo carousels and Reels, allowing users to pinpoint the exact moment and slide where others engaged with their content. Additionally, the new post-level demographics feature will assist creators in understanding which types of content resonate most with their audience. The platform also announced an expanded Viewers metric and a new method for identifying the most viewed content on their accounts.
New Features on Instagram
According to a post from Instagram’s Creators account, the first of these features is Reel Like Insights. This tool will provide an interactive chart showing “When people liked your reel,” giving creators detailed insight into the precise moment someone decided to engage with their content. In addition to likes, users will be able to access information regarding shares, saves, comments, and overall account engagement, enabling them to refine their content for greater impact.
The second enhancement is Carousel Like Insights, designed to function similarly to the Reel Like Insights but specifically for carousel posts. This feature will reveal which slide a viewer was on at the time they liked the post. Creators will also see a pie chart illustrating interactions from both followers and non-followers along with other engagement metrics, as well as a display of the most liked slides.
Another addition is Post Level Demographics, which allows creators to check demographic insights for individual posts and Reels. Previously, demographic data was limited to age, country, and gender insights for the overall account, but this new feature offers a more granular understanding of which content appeals to specific demographics of their audience.
Instagram will also highlight content that has been instrumental in attracting followers to creators’ accounts. In the Followers section of Insights, the platform will showcase top-performing content, including posts and Reels that have successfully converted viewers into followers.
Moreover, creators will have access to their follower metrics, such as follows and unfollows, alongside a chart illustrating follower growth over a selected time frame.
Lastly, the long-anticipated Viewers metric, which was originally revealed last year, will replace the current Accounts Reached metric. This new metric will provide a comprehensive view of total engagement on the account while spotlighting the factors contributing to it, with insights categorized by content type.
