Instagram has revealed a new feature aimed at enhancing the way users share music on the platform. With this update, tracks shared on Instagram Stories will now display a preview of the song, making the sharing experience more engaging. In the past, users could share songs, but only the album cover and a link were visible, with no audio playback available. This move follows the recent introduction of another feature that enables users to share Spotify tracks directly as Instagram Notes.
Sharing Spotify Songs on Instagram Stories
According to TechCrunch, users are now able to share songs on their Instagram Stories, which will include an audio preview along with a link to the streaming service. Previously, shared posts only included the album cover and a link, without any accompanying music.
Staff members from Gadgets 360 have confirmed that this feature is officially active on the platform. When a song from Spotify is shared as an Instagram story, a brief audio snippet will play. The steps to share a song are as follows:
- Open the Spotify app and locate the album, podcast, or song you wish to share on your Instagram story.
- When the ‘Now Playing’ screen is displayed, tap the share icon located at the bottom-right corner.
- Select Stories from the options available in the share window. Album art customization is also available at this stage.
- Instagram will automatically launch, showing a preview of the track along with an audio snippet playing.
- Tap on Your story to publish the track along with the audio preview on your Instagram story.
This enhancement is part of a collaborative effort between Instagram and Spotify, building on their recent partnership. Additionally, Instagram has launched an update for its mobile application that lets users share the tracks they are currently listening to on Spotify as Instagram Notes.
Instagram has stated that these notes will be updated in real-time to reflect the currently playing track on the user’s Spotify account. This functionality necessitates linking a Spotify account to Instagram and will be visible for 24 hours, or up to 30 minutes after the music playback has ended.
