Instagram has unveiled a new feature designed to facilitate interactions between creators and businesses, according to a recent announcement from the platform’s leadership on social media. The update allows creators to organize and filter message requests in their direct messages (DMs) by account type, eliminating the need to scroll through each request individually. This enhancement follows an earlier confirmation that Instagram will reduce the quality of stories and Reels that do not attract significant views, in order to prioritize computational resources for content that engages a larger audience.
Sorting Message Requests in DMs on Instagram
In a video shared on Instagram, platform head Adam Mosseri detailed the new sorting and filtering capabilities for creators. They can now categorize their message requests in DMs based on two criteria: recent activity and the number of followers. Additionally, creators interested in specific account types can utilize the newly added filtering options.
The filtering feature allows creators to view message requests from verified accounts, businesses, fellow creators, or subscribers. They can opt for individual or multiple filtering options, a change aimed at alleviating the sense of being overwhelmed when going through direct messages.
According to Mosseri, this feature is intended to help creators “easily find the messages you don’t want to miss.” Furthermore, Instagram has introduced a new Story Replies folder, consolidating these responses in one location for quicker access.
Other Recent Additions
In recent months, Instagram has rolled out several additional features. One notable update is the introduction of customizable profile cards, allowing creators to share their profiles in a more engaging manner. These two-sided digital cards can be tailored to match personal style through various customization options.
Another recent enhancement is the song-on-profile feature, which permits users to add a song that reflects their current mood or personality to their profiles, further personalizing their presence on the platform.
