NxtQuantum Shift Technologies, a technology company from India, unveiled its indigenous mobile operating system on Friday. Named NxtQuantum OS, the company asserts that the entire platform was developed in India, ensuring that user data remains within national borders and is not stored on servers outside of the country. Founded by Madhav Sheth, NxtQuantum is also in the process of creating AI+ smartphones. The company emphasizes that the OS incorporates locally trained AI engines, enabling a range of smart and context-aware functionalities.

NxtQuantum OS Stores User Data in Google Cloud Servers

The deep tech firm announced its inaugural mobile operating system through a press release, disclosing that the initial smartphones to feature the OS will be the AI+ Pulse and Nova 5G. These devices are scheduled for launch on July 8 in India.

According to the company, the operating system empowers users with full control over their data, detailing the storage locations, access permissions, and reasons for data access.

Importantly, NxtQuantum stated that all user data, including preferences, usage histories, and backups, will be hosted in India on Google Cloud servers that have received approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The NxtQuantum OS is designed using Google Cloud’s zero-trust security principles and adopts a consent-first strategy for data sharing. The company firmly claimed, “There is no third-party access, no unauthorized tracking, and no foreign data routing.”

Madhav Sheth, Founder & CEO of NxtQuantum Shift Technologies, remarked, “NxtQuantum OS was designed from first principles—your phone should work for you, not against you. What you do on your device stays with you. Not even we can access it.”

While specific details regarding the interface, features, and customization options of the operating system remain undisclosed, the company has provided some insights into its capabilities. NxtQuantum OS is built and maintained through an Indian product stack and offers system-level telemetry controls along with locally trained AI engines to support various features.
