In the evolving landscape of technology, major players including Meta, Google, Samsung, and potentially Apple, are focusing their efforts on AI-integrated glasses, making smart eyewear a trending device. Joining this wave is HTC, which has unveiled its latest offering: the Vive Eagle smart glasses. These glasses feature integrated speakers, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a voice assistant driven by artificial intelligence.
Currently, the Vive Eagle glasses are limited in availability to Taiwan. They position themselves as direct competitors to Meta’s Ray-Ban and Oakley smart eyewear. Key capabilities include AI-enhanced image translation, allowing users to request translations of their surroundings in 13 different languages through the Vive AI voice assistant.
Additional features include the ability to set reminders, receive restaurant recommendations, and take notes. HTC claims the Vive Eagle glasses weigh only 49 grams, comparable to the lightweight Ray-Ban smart glasses from Meta.
The pricing for the Vive Eagle glasses is approximately $520 USD. They come with Zeiss sun lenses available in red, brown, gray, or black frames. However, HTC has not yet announced plans for introducing these smart glasses in North America or Europe, suggesting that Meta may face increased competition if HTC decides to expand its reach.
