Competition among Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi and Honor is intensifying as they strive to produce devices equipped with substantial battery capacities. Recent reports suggest that Honor may be developing a new model in its Power series that will feature an impressive 10,000mAh battery. Additionally, tipsters indicate that Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, is in the works for a device that could offer a battery capacity between 8,500mAh and 9,000mAh. These advancements are made possible by innovations in silicon-carbon technology, allowing manufacturers to enhance battery life without increasing device thickness.

Redmi Expected to Incorporate Silicon-Carbon Technology for Enhanced Batteries

Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, recently conveyed that a Chinese smartphone brand might be developing a new device featuring a large battery capacity of between 8,500mAh and 9,000mAh. Observers on Weibo speculate that this brand is likely to be Xiaomi’s subsidiary, Redmi.

The anticipated handset is expected to utilize proprietary technology, which possibly involves an advanced version of silicon-carbon composites. This innovation may enable the integration of a high-capacity battery while maintaining a slim profile, keeping the device thickness below 8.5mm.

If the information proves accurate, this upcoming Redmi device could boast the largest battery in the brand’s current lineup. In related news, reports suggest that Redmi might be preparing to unveil the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro, which is expected to feature an 8,000mAh battery—an upgrade from its predecessor, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which has a 7,550mAh battery.

In another development, a competitor of Xiaomi is believed to be working on a device that will offer an extraordinary 10,000mAh battery, a benchmark typically seen only in larger devices such as tablets. The device in question is rumored to be the Honor Power 2, intended as a successor to the original Honor Power. The current model, launched in April, boasts an 8,000mAh battery that employs cutting-edge silicon-carbon technology.

It is noteworthy that several slim smartphones equipped with traditional lithium polymer batteries also sport sizable capacities. The Honor X70, released on July 16, measures just 7.96mm thick and features an 8,300mAh battery. It claims to provide up to 18 hours of screen time, about 15.6 hours of navigation, and up to 27 hours of “short video” playback on a single charge. Moreover, the device supports 80W wired fast charging.
