Honor has officially announced the upcoming launch of its Magic V5 smartphone next month through a post on its Weibo account. This latest iteration of the foldable smartphone is expected to be primarily available in China, with potential availability in other markets at a later date. The company also revealed the sleek design of the device on Weibo.
The Honor Magic V5 is set to succeed last year’s Magic V3 model and is anticipated to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Reports suggest that the device will be equipped with a robust 6,100mAh battery and an impressive 8-inch inner foldable display.
The official unveiling of the Honor Magic V5 will take place in China on July 2, beginning at 7:00 PM local time (4:30 PM IST). Pre-reservations for the foldable device are currently being accepted through the company’s official online store in China.
During the recent MWC Shanghai 2025 event, Honor CEO James Li provided a sneak peek of the Magic V5, showcasing the device prior to its launch. A teaser image indicated a notably protruding camera island, while on another edge, the volume control and power button were visible. The smartphone is expected to be marketed as the slimmest and lightest option in its category, offering AI-enhanced capabilities and ‘PC-level productivity.’
The company is poised to position the Magic V5 as a formidable contender to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is rumored to have an unfolded thickness of just 3.9mm and 8.9mm when folded. The precise dimensions of the Magic V5 remain unconfirmed, but last year’s model, the Magic V3, was known to have a thickness of 9.3mm in its folded state.
Expected Specifications of Honor Magic V5
While the official specifications for the Honor Magic V5 have not yet been disclosed, the device has been the subject of speculation for some time. Recently, it was identified on Geekbench with the model number MHG-AN00, indicating that it will utilize a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and feature 16GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to operate on Android 15 and will have an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
According to previous leaks, the Honor Magic V5 is likely to include a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Additionally, it may come with a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen paired with an 8-inch 2K inner display.
