On Wednesday, Hinge unveiled an innovative feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI) designed to assist users in crafting distinctive and engaging profiles on the dating app. Named “Prompt Feedback,” this tool provides personalized insights when users respond to suggested text prompts. This marks the first integration of AI in the Match Group-owned platform and aims to help users steer clear of uninspired or clichéd responses. Importantly, the AI feature is accessible to all users without the need for a subscription.
Hinge Launches Platform’s First AI Feature
According to a press release from Hinge, the AI capability was developed following internal research. The company reported that interactions with text prompts are 47% more likely to lead to a date than interactions with photos. However, a significant 63% of users indicated difficulties in crafting unique and compelling answers to prompts, prompting Hinge to create this new feature.
Unlike many conventional dating apps where users swipe left or right to indicate interest, Hinge operates differently. Users can like and comment on both photos and text prompts, facilitating conversations. This approach means that the quality of responses can directly influence the likelihood of receiving likes on them.

The “Prompt Feedback” feature utilizes OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini AI model, delivering personalized suggestions based on users’ responses to text prompts. Users can access this tool by tapping the profile icon located at the bottom right and then selecting the pencil icon at the top of their profile picture. This opens the edit profile interface, allowing for adjustments to photos, bio information, and prompt answers.
When users choose a suggested text prompt and begin typing, they will notice a sparkle icon alongside the option “Get feedback” at the bottom of the text field. Tapping this option will provide one of three AI-generated feedback responses: “Great Answer,” “Try a Small Change,” or “Go a Little Deeper.”
For those seeking more guidance, the feature also provides a detailed analysis upon tapping the initial feedback. A new page will appear, outlining what modifications can enhance the uniqueness of a user’s response. Hinge emphasizes that all feedback remains private, offering users the choice to update their answers or retain the original versions.
