Supergiant Games has confirmed that Hades 2 will be a timed console exclusive on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement follows the game’s reveal during the Nintendo Direct livestream on April 2, coinciding with the launch of the Switch 2. Hades 2 is scheduled to debut on Nintendo platforms simultaneously with its release on PC, before making its way to PlayStation and Xbox platforms at a later date.

In a recent installment of Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series, Supergiant Games provided confirmation that Hades 2 will be available first on the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio further elaborated on X, stating that the game will be accessible on the original Switch alongside its newer counterpart and on PC.
“Hades II v1.0 will launch simultaneously on our Early Access platforms (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch,” the developer announced on Wednesday.
However, Supergiant has yet to disclose the specific launch date for Hades 2 version 1.0. The studio indicated in the Creator’s Voice video that additional information would be made available later this year.
Early Access Feedback
Hades 2 entered early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 6, 2024. The early access version has garnered a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with over 55,000 user reviews reflecting player satisfaction.
While Supergiant has not confirmed a release for PlayStation and Xbox versions of Hades 2, it is expected to follow a similar trajectory to its predecessor. The original Hades debuted on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2020, subsequently launching on PlayStation and Xbox consoles the following year.
Hades 2 was showcased during the Nintendo Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct livestream on April 2, joining a lineup of third-party titles confirmed for the new console. The sequel centers on Melinoe, the Princess of the Underworld and sister to Zagreus, the hero of the first game, as she confronts Chronos, the Titan of Time. The Nintendo Switch 2, fully unveiled during the Direct presentation, is set to hit the market on June 5.
