Google is poised to introduce its Pixel 10 series later this year, powered by the next-generation System on Chip (SoC) — Tensor G5. This new chipset is reportedly being developed in collaboration with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Anticipation builds as we await the new generation of Pixel smartphones equipped with this custom-designed chip. A recent report from China indicates that Google plans to continue its collaboration with TSMC for several years, utilizing their chipsets up to and including the Pixel 14 series expected in 2029.

Long-term Collaboration Between Google and TSMC

According to a report from Digitimes, Google is deepening its ties with the semiconductor sector in Taiwan. The report notes that executives from Google have visited TSMC in Taiwan to discuss a long-term partnership, indicating that a multi-year collaboration is on the horizon. This partnership is expected to extend to future Pixel devices, including the anticipated Pixel 14 series, which is projected for release in 2029.

The report stated, “The cooperation between the two parties will last for many years, at least until the stage of the new Pixel 14, which is about three to five years later.” Furthermore, Google’s partnership with Taiwanese firms is likely to broaden, encompassing areas such as cloud-based TPU chips, integrated circuit design, server technologies, and liquid cooling systems.

Set to launch in late 2025, the upcoming Pixel 10 series will feature the new Tensor G5 chip manufactured by TSMC, which is expected to leverage a 3nm fabrication process. This lineup is likely to include four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Leaked information suggests that the Tensor G5 will introduce significant hardware enhancements compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G4. Potential features include an always-on compute (AoC) audio processor, the Google Emerald Hill memory co-processor, a Google GXP digital signal processor (DSP), and the Google EdgeTPU. The new SoC is anticipated to utilize Arm Cortex CPU cores and incorporate a GPU from Imagination Technologies DXT.
