Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature to its Gemini app for iOS and Android users. Named Scheduled Actions, this tool enables users to request the chatbot to complete tasks at designated future dates and times. The feature also supports recurring tasks, like receiving a daily news update every morning. Currently, Scheduled Actions is exclusively available to paying subscribers of Gemini and Google Workspace accounts.

Gemini Can Now Schedule Actions Ahead of Time

In a recent blog post, Google, headquartered in Mountain View, provided further details about the rollout of this new capability in the Gemini app on a global scale. At present, only users with active subscriptions to Google AI Pro, AI Ultra, or those with an existing Gemini Advanced subscription can access this feature. It is also being made available to subscribers of paid Google Workspace accounts, regardless of whether they are using individual or enterprise versions.

Users can assign Scheduled Actions directly by entering a prompt in the Gemini app. They simply need to specify the intended date and time while interacting with the chatbot. Moreover, Gemini can be instructed to repeat specific tasks daily or on selected days, offering users flexibility in managing their routines.

To view, modify, or remove scheduled actions, users can navigate to the Gemini app and select Settings by tapping their profile icon located in the upper right corner. This will lead them to the new Scheduled Actions section, where all scheduled tasks are listed.

According to Google, the Scheduled Actions feature allows for a diverse range of tasks. For example, users can request nightly summaries of calendar events or unread emails for the following morning or seek creative ideas for blogs or videos. Users can also schedule one-time tasks, such as summarizing an event a day after it occurs, like the Summer Game Fest.

Additionally, Scheduled Actions can track various interests, including sports teams, stock market movements, and current news stories. It remains unclear whether this feature will eventually be accessible to users on Gemini’s free tier.
