Google is set to enhance your mobile gaming experience with its Gemini AI assistant, providing in-game support for players. On Tuesday, Google unveiled the impending launch of Gemini Live, an integration that will feature a new overlay in games available on the Play Store. This will allow players to request tips and hints without needing to navigate away from their gameplay.
Beginning in the coming months, this feature will be introduced in select titles, emulating the Gaming Copilot functionality that Microsoft recently incorporated into the Xbox mobile app and Windows 11. The Gemini Live AI will effectively “see” what players are experiencing on their screens, enabling it to offer personalized advice based on their gameplay. Much like Microsoft’s offering, players can ask questions aloud while playing, and Gemini will provide voice responses.
In addition to the AI support, Google’s overlay will provide players with information regarding rewards, special offers, and achievements. The tech giant also announced the broad launch of its initiative to make Google Play Games available on PC, three years following its beta introduction. Currently, users can play more than 200,000 Google Play games across both mobile and PC platforms.
Other gaming enhancements coming to the Google Play Store include a redesign of game pages, offering users a summary of their progress, achievements, and updates from developers. Google is also adding a feature that allows users to ask and respond to game-related questions directly on the Google Play Store page in select markets, allowing for community-driven interaction.
