Google Workspace has unveiled its March feature update, introducing a range of artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements for its users. Many of these features have already been implemented for eligible users, while others are set to be available in the coming days. A key highlight of this update is the improved “take notes for me” functionality in Google Meet, which now offers suggestions for next steps for participants after meetings. Additionally, Google Vids is launching a new feature to provide custom AI-generated voiceovers for every scene in a video automatically.
Google Workspace Introduces New AI Enhancements
In a recent blog post, the technology giant based in Mountain View detailed several new capabilities designed for its paid Google Workspace users. These enhancements will be rolled out across Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Essentials, and Education accounts, with users who have the Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-ons also benefiting from the new features. Some updates may require admin intervention to activate.
One significant improvement comes to Google Meet, enhancing the existing Gemini-powered “take notes for me” feature first introduced in August 2024. The upgraded chatbot can now generate actionable tasks based on discussions held during meetings. These next steps will be documented in a Google Doc, appended to the meeting summary.
The enhanced functionality also allows for task due dates to be assigned, targeting the most relevant participants from the meeting. Hosts will have the ability to review and modify these tasks as needed.
In Google Vids, a new AI voiceovers feature is being incorporated into the “help me create” tool. This addition enables the suggestion of custom voices tailored to the various scenes within a generated video. Users retain the option to manually select AI voices that they believe better align with the video content. To access this feature, users can navigate to Google Vids and choose to create a new video, where they will find voiceover options available.
Furthermore, Google Chat will introduce a new “translate for me” feature, also powered by Gemini. This functionality will automatically recognize and translate text messages from over 120 languages with a single click, while still allowing users to view the original messages if necessary. The tech company also announced an expansion of the languages supported by Gemini across its Workspace applications.
