Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) model from its Gemini 2.0 family, known as Gemini 2.0 Experimental Advanced. This large language model (LLM) is exclusively available to paid subscribers of Gemini. The announcement follows closely on the heels of the release of the Gemini 2.0 Flash model for the Gemini Android app. Currently, the 2.0 Experimental Advanced model can only be accessed through the web version of the AI chatbot.

Introduction of Gemini 2.0 Experimental Advanced Model

In a recent blog post, Google revealed details about its second Gemini 2.0 AI model. Officially codenamed Gemini-Exp-1206, this new model can be selected via the model switcher located at the top of the web interface of the chatbot. Presently, access is restricted to Gemini Advanced subscribers.

Although announced recently, the name Gemini-Exp-1206 made its first appearance last week when it topped the Chatbot Arena (previously known as LMSYS) LLM Leaderboard with a score of 1374. This achievement places it ahead of the latest version of OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Gemini 2.0 Flash, and the o1 series models.

This new AI model, which is exclusively available on the web version of Gemini, is reported to demonstrate considerable advancements in handling complex tasks including coding, mathematics, reasoning, and following instructions. Google stated that it can provide detailed multi-step guidance for do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, an area where previous models faced challenges.

However, Google cautioned users that the 2.0 Experimental Advanced model is currently in an early preview phase, which means it may not always function as intended. Furthermore, this AI model lacks access to real-time information and may have compatibility issues with certain features of Gemini. The company has not specified which features may not be supported by the new LLM.

It is worth noting that Gemini Live is part of the Gemini Advanced subscription, which can be obtained through the Google One AI Premium plan priced at Rs. 1,950 per month, following a one-month free trial.
