On Wednesday, Google introduced the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 version for developers and testers. This update, which initially debuted on the Pixel devices, follows the general rollout of Android 16 nearly two weeks after the I/O 2025 developer conference. The update aims to address several issues reported in previous versions, including problems with navigation buttons, fingerprint authentication, and unexpected app crashes.
Changes in Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1
According to Google’s official release notes, this latest update resolves a bug that rendered navigation buttons unresponsive on the Google Pixel 8. This issue occurred while swiping through app pages on the home screen or app drawer, though functionality was restored upon opening any application.
Additionally, the update addresses two specific crash scenarios. One issue caused crashes when users attempted to open wallpaper effects, while another occurred within the Settings app when accessing the battery menu.
Previous beta versions also revealed a bug affecting the lock screen, where the date would be truncated when using a wide clock style. In another case, fingerprint authentication would fail for devices with multiple registered users under low-power conditions. Users further noted an inconsistency with the search button’s color during scrolling. All these issues have now been rectified in the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 update.
The update also addresses missing elements in Device Admin settings, the appearance of dark album labels in the photo picker, and the disappearance of the date on the home screen.
