Google appears to be in the process of developing a more affordable version of its Gemini service, tentatively named Google AI Lite. This new plan is designed for users who seek additional artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities without the higher costs associated with the Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra plans. Reports indicate that this potential offering was uncovered during an Android application package (APK) teardown of the latest beta version of the Google app.
Google AI Lite Plan Under Development
A report from Android Authority suggests that the Google AI Lite plan is being explored. Evidence of this new option was found in a code snippet during the APK teardown, which refers to a “lite” version of “robin,” the codename for the Gemini project. Although detailed information remains scarce, the plan is speculated to occupy a space between the free version of Gemini and the Google AI Pro plan, offering enhanced features at a competitive price point. At this stage, it remains uncertain if this plan will ultimately be launched.
Currently, the Google AI Pro plan is available at no cost for the first month, transitioning to a monthly fee of Rs. 1,950 thereafter. In stark contrast, the Google AI Ultra plan peaks at Rs. 12,200 per month for an initial three-month period, escalating to Rs. 24,500 monthly thereafter. With the anticipated Google AI Lite plan positioned below the Pro tier, its subscription fee is expected to be less than Rs. 1,950.
Speculating on the features to be included with the Google AI Lite plan, one can draw parallels with the Google AI Pro offerings, which might provide insights into what users could expect. The Pro plan currently grants access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro large language model (LLM) and Deep Research capabilities, along with elevated rate limits. Users also benefit from limited interaction with Veo 3 Fast, the latest model for video generation, and tools for AI filmmaking that facilitate the creation of cinematic scenes.
In addition, the Google AI Pro plan enhances the functionality of Veo 2’s image-to-video capabilities, offers an allocation of 1,000 monthly AI credits, and provides access to NotebookLM. This feature aids users in summarizing information, conducting research, generating reports, and extracting data from complex sources. The benefits of Gemini’s AI integration extend to applications like Gmail and Google Docs, all while providing a combined storage capacity of 2TB across Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail.
