Additionally, Google shared insights into the most popular ‘Hum to Search’ queries, alongside trending memes and unique language expressions that surfaced this year.

This year’s trending searches in India were dominated by cricket, particularly the Indian Premier League and T20 World Cup, which secured the top two positions. The Indian Super League was also noted, appearing at the 10th spot. Other significant searches included the Election Results 2024 and the upcoming Olympics 2024.

This year’s top searches also included a range of popular movies and TV shows. The five most searched films were Stree 2, Kalki 2898 AD, 12th Fail, Laapataa Ladies, and Hanu-Man. In television, the leading shows were Heeramandi, Mirzapur, The Last of Us, Bigg Boss 17, and Panchayat.
Google’s Hum to Search feature, which allows users to find songs by humming or whistling, revealed the most searched tracks of the year, featuring Nadaaniyan, Husn, Illuminati, Katchi Sera, and Ye Tune Kya Kiya.

Furthermore, there was curiosity surrounding the meanings of phrases like “moye moye,” cervical cancer, and “pookie.”
Following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Indian users embraced travel again, leading to searches for popular destinations including Azerbaijan, Bali, Manali, Kazakhstan, and Jaipur. In culinary interests, top recipe searches included mango pickle, kanji, charnamrit, dhaniya panjiri, ughadi pachadi, and shankarpali.
