Google has started the rollout of its Loss of Pulse Detection feature for Pixel Watch 3 users across the United States.
This prominent health function is designed to notify emergency services if the Pixel Watch 3 fails to detect the wearer’s heartbeat. First revealed alongside the Pixel Watch 3 in August of the previous year, this feature has been accessible to users in Europe for several months. Its introduction in the U.S. has been contingent on obtaining regulatory approval, which the Food and Drug Administration granted to Google in late February. According to Google, the algorithm underwent extensive testing, utilizing over 100,000 hours of data to reduce the likelihood of false alarms, and a peer-reviewed study has been published in Nature.
Users will need to wait for a notification on their watch to activate the optional feature. If you don’t see the prompt immediately, there is no need for concern. Google’s spokesperson, Bridget Starkey, informed Technology News that the rollout is just beginning today, and users can expect to receive it over the next few weeks.
