Google has unveiled a new version of its Gemini app tailored specifically for iPadOS. Previously, users could only access the iOS version in compatibility mode on their iPads.

In an announcement shared via email to Technology News, Google spokesperson Elijah Lawal highlighted some key features of the new app:

This new version allows users to utilize the split view functionality on the iPad, enabling Gemini to run alongside other applications for improved multitasking. Key features include:

• Gemini Live: Engage in natural conversations in over 45 different languages.

• Deep Research: Generate reports and gather information quickly, thereby saving time.

• Audio Overview: Simplify the processing and understanding of audio files.

• Canvas: Collaborate on and edit documents and code in a dynamic environment enhanced by AI.

• Image and Video Generation: Create vibrant images and videos, bringing concepts to life directly on the iPad.

The dedicated iPad app is now available for download in all regions where Gemini is offered. Users can access it directly from the App Store.

Additionally, the Audio Overview feature has expanded its reach, now available in over 45 languages globally following positive feedback from users more than a year after its initial release for English speakers.

The latest update also enables Gemini to be added as a homescreen widget and facilitates connections to Google Photos.

Gemini made its iOS debut in November. Although an iPad-specific version would have been ideal at launch, this timing is certainly a welcome development. Furthermore, this delay is not uncommon in the tech community.
