Google is in the process of developing a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature for its note-taking app, Google Keep. The upcoming functionality, referred to as Help Me Draw, is designed to convert hand-drawn text and sketches into digital images. Evidence suggesting the existence of this feature was discovered in the latest update of the Google Keep app for Android, specifically within version 5.24.462.04.90. Initially, it may be introduced in the company’s Workspace Lab before being rolled out to a broader audience.

Functionality of Google Keep’s ‘Help Me Draw’ Feature

Tech outlets Android Authority and AssembleDebug have identified that the Help Me Draw feature is still under development. During an application package kit (APK) teardown, various flags related to the feature were uncovered, allowing them to make it visible within the app. However, because the AI capability is likely cloud-based, hands-on testing of the feature was not possible.

Several details regarding this AI tool have emerged from screenshots shared by the publications. The feature, named ‘Help Me Draw’, includes a description that encourages users to “Try Help Me Draw to create unique images from your hand drawings and bring your doodles to life.”

Once activated, users will be able to sketch or write on a Google Keep page and highlight their work to engage the AI tool. Upon selecting Help Me Draw, the AI will analyze the drawn content for recognition. If the tool successfully identifies it, a text field will appear, allowing users to type prompts for the desired creation.

Additionally, users will have options to choose from various styles, including vector drawing, colored pencil, and ink marker. Once all elements are in place, the AI will enhance the generated artwork. However, since the feature has not yet been enabled, its final output could not be evaluated by the publications.

It is significant to note that the description’s reference to Workspace Lab suggests that the feature may be made available initially to Google Workspace account holders who have the Gemini add-on. However, an official announcement from Google will be necessary to confirm these details.
