Google is set to introduce a new feature in search profiles for restaurants and bars that allows owners to include up-to-date promotions and events. This development will enable businesses to manage these listings either manually or by connecting their social media profiles, according to a post by the company that was highlighted by Search Engine Land.

The promotions will be displayed under a section titled “This week” within the information block typically presented for local businesses in Google searches. Google recommends that business owners utilize this feature to showcase daily specials or advertise upcoming live music events. Initially, this feature will be rolled out in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, specifically targeting single food and drink establishments; however, a timeline for the launch has not yet been specified.

This new section, referred to as “What’s Happening” on the business side, can be updated by bars and restaurants through the Posts feature on Google, which was originally launched nearly ten years ago for brands and celebrities. The feature has since been extended to local businesses, permitting them to share content directly within their search profiles. Additionally, businesses have the option to connect their Instagram, Facebook, or X accounts for automatic cross-posting capabilities.
