On Wednesday, Google unveiled a new initiative aimed at university students in the United States and several other nations. The tech giant will offer eligible students a complimentary one-year subscription to its AI Pro plan, providing access to advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features and tools integrated into applications like Gemini, Docs, Sheets, and NotebookLM. The company plans to broaden this offer to more countries in the upcoming weeks.
Pricing and Availability of Google AI Pro Plan
The AI Pro plan is priced at $19.99 (approximately Rs. 1,750) per month in the United States. Students also have the option to subscribe annually for $199.99 (roughly Rs. 17,500), which offers a savings of $39.89 (around Rs. 3,500) compared to the monthly subscription.

The subscription will be available at no cost to eligible university students for one year, as detailed in a recent blog post by Google. This offer targets students aged 18 and older in the US, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil, and can be claimed until October 6. The initiative also includes students in India, to whom a similar offer was made last month.
Features and Benefits of the Google AI Pro Plan
The Google AI Pro plan encompasses access to cutting-edge models such as Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Research on Gemini 2.5 Pro models. It enables users to explore video generation capabilities using Veo 3, and provides an expanded limit for converting images to videos with Veo 2 through the Whisk platform. The plan also offers limited access to Veo 3 Fast on Vertex AI.
In addition, students will receive 1,000 monthly AI credits applicable for generating text, images, and videos across Flow and Whisk. Google notes that users can enjoy up to five times the usual limit for creating Audio Overviews and notebooks in NotebookLM. Furthermore, subscribers will have access to Gemini within Google’s suite of applications, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
The Google AI Pro plan also comes with an added benefit of 2TB of cloud storage across platforms like Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
