Google has broadened the reach of its Gemini Deep Research feature, making it available across more than 150 countries and in 45 languages. This expansion accompanies the recent launch of the Gemini 2.0 AI model family. However, the feature is currently limited to the functionalities of the 1.5 Pro artificial intelligence model. According to the tech giant, Deep Research is designed to facilitate the creation of multi-step research strategies, perform web searches, and compile comprehensive reports on intricate subjects. Presently, this feature can be accessed exclusively through the web version of Gemini on desktop devices.
Gemini with Deep Research Now Available in More Than 45 Languages
The official Google Gemini App account announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Deep Research is accessible to paid subscribers in over 150 countries, covering 45 different languages. This means that the Gemini 1.5 Pro model equipped with Deep Research will be available in regions where Gemini operates. The supported languages include Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Malayalam, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tamil, Urdu, Vietnamese, and others.
The Mountain View-based company noted that access to the Deep Research feature requires a subscription to the Google One AI Premium Plan, which includes the Gemini Advanced model. In India, for example, a monthly subscription is priced at Rs. 1,950. Eligibility for this subscription is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over. The availability of the feature may also differ depending on the device, country, and language.
At its launch, Deep Research was described as an agentic feature. Users can input queries that necessitate specialized knowledge or that are complex and require simplification. Upon receiving a query, the AI agent formulates a multi-step research plan, searches for pertinent research papers and articles, and investigates the latest advancements in the relevant field.
Furthermore, based on its insights, the agent can conduct additional web searches to deepen its understanding of the subject. Once sufficient information is gathered, it compiles a detailed report. Users have the flexibility to intervene at any stage, allowing them to edit the research plan or add follow-up prompts to adjust the outcome.
