Google is expanding its AI Mode in Search to a total of 180 countries and territories, allowing users outside the US, UK, and India to access this AI-powered search feature. This enhancement enables users to engage with a chatbot-like interface for searching various topics; however, it remains available solely in English for the time being.
In conjunction with the global rollout, Google introduced new functionalities for AI Mode, particularly focusing on restaurant reservations. Google AI Ultra subscribers can now query AI Mode for dining options, specifying details such as date, time, location, party size, and cuisine preferences. The AI Mode will then explore various reservation platforms and websites to identify suitable restaurant availability.
Users can select from the offered restaurants and reservation times, with AI Mode providing a direct link to the booking page for easy completion of the reservation process. Google has partnered with platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, Booksy, among others, to support this feature. Subscribers are invited to experiment with this new functionality by enabling the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” option in Labs.
Additionally, Google is enhancing the personalization of AI Mode’s responses for U.S. users participating in the AI Mode experiment within Labs. Currently limited to dining inquiries, this feature allows AI Mode to refer to previous interactions, tailoring results based on past searches or clicks. For example, when asked for lunch recommendations, AI Mode might suggest Italian restaurants if those were previously searched or consider a preference for vegan options.
Furthermore, users in the United States can now share their AI Mode search results via a link. A newly introduced “Share” button enables users to copy the link for their chat and share it in messages, allowing friends and family to pick up the search where they left off. Google highlights that users can review and delete any shared links at their convenience.
