Google Chrome is set to introduce an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) feature designed to assist users in making informed online purchases. On Monday, the tech company from Mountain View revealed that it will roll out AI-powered store summaries, which provide essential product insights when users visit an e-commerce site. This tool aggregates information from Google Shopping as well as several well-known review platforms, according to the company’s announcement. Currently, this feature is accessible only in the United States through the desktop version of Chrome.
Google Chrome Introduces AI-Generated Store Summaries for Shoppers
In a blog entry, Google elaborated on the function and usage of the new AI-driven store summaries. At present, this feature is exclusively available in the US and is offered in the English language, with no availability on mobile applications for now.
To utilize the feature, users need to click on the toggle icon situated on the left side of the address bar. This icon includes settings such as Cookies and site data, as well as Secure connection options. When on a product page within an e-commerce context, eligible users will notice a new Store reviews option appearing.
According to images shared by Google, the AI tool provides a summary of the collective opinions from previous buyers. Key areas of focus include customer service, product quality, shipping, pricing, and return policies. In addition, users will view a rating for the product. Importantly, the summaries are compiled from independent review sites such as TrustPilot, ScamAdvisor, and Google. Users will also have the opportunity to give feedback on the usefulness of the summaries.
In a related development, Google Chrome for iOS is enhancing the management of browsing data for both organizational and personal accounts. The enhancements to the sign-in process will eliminate the need for users to log out and log back in based on their activities. Additionally, the browser will now notify users when they are accessing an organization-managed experience. Google asserts that enterprises will retain control over their data and how it is managed.
