Google has announced an expansion of the language support for its AI tool, ‘Help Me Write,’ in Gmail. The update, revealed on Monday, aims to assist users who communicate in various native languages by allowing them to draft and refine email messages with AI assistance. This feature debuted at Google I/O 2023 and provides the ability to draft emails based on natural language prompts or enhance existing email drafts for clarity and tone.
Gmail’s ‘Help Me Write’ Receives Enhancement
In a blog post, the company highlighted that the feature is part of its latest Workspace update. Users can now leverage the Gemini-powered ‘Help Me Write’ in Japanese and Korean, in addition to the previously supported languages. This enhancement means that users who prefer these languages can effectively utilize the AI tool to compose or modify emails.
Last month, the AI tool also added support for French, German, and Italian. Following this latest update, ‘Help Me Write’ supports a total of eight languages, which also includes English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
The ‘Help Me Write’ feature is operated by Google’s Gemini AI models and is accessible through both the web client and mobile applications. It is represented by a sparkle icon, closely associated with Gemini. Users can click this icon and describe the message they want the AI to create. The tool can generate email content tailored to the prompt, allowing users to specify tone, word choice, and message length, all of which Gemini can accommodate.
In addition to creating new emails, the tool can refine existing drafts. Users can adjust the tone, expand the content, or even condense the message while ensuring clarity. This integration within Gmail allows users to complete these tasks without needing to exit the platform, making the email composition process more seamless and efficient.
