Google has introduced a significant enhancement to its Gemini platform. On Monday, the tech giant announced an update allowing users to upload up to 10 images or files in a single submission. Previously, the AI chatbot permitted only one image or file per input. This multi-file upload feature is now accessible through the Gemini web client and on both Android and iOS applications, supported by all recent models of the general-purpose Gemini AI.

Gemini Can Now Chat About 10 Images At Once

Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs and Gemini, shared this news in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He highlighted that users can now upload a combination of 10 images and/or files in one go. In addition, Woodward encouraged users to report any inconveniences they experience while using the platform.

Members of the Gadgets 360 team tested the new feature in both the free version and the Gemini Advanced platform. However, at the time of reporting, the multi-file upload option was not yet available on the mobile applications. It appears that this functionality is being rolled out gradually and will be accessible across all platforms shortly.

With this update, users can utilize the plus icon located to the left of the text field to access their gallery or upload files. They can select multiple files by long-pressing (using Shift key + select on Windows desktops) or by tapping the plus icon again to add more files. Previously, tapping this icon would prompt a warning message indicating that the attached image or file would be replaced.

Now, if users attempt to upload more than 10 files, they will receive an error message stating, “Some of your files could not be uploaded because you can only upload 10 attachments at a time.”

This new functionality also streamlines the process of posing questions to Gemini about multiple documents simultaneously. While similar tasks could be completed using NotebookLM or creating Gems, the ability to do so directly within the main interface offers greater convenience, especially for users with straightforward inquiries about their files.
