Google has introduced a significant enhancement to its Gemini platform. On Monday, the tech giant announced an update that enables users to upload as many as 10 images or files simultaneously. Previously, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot only allowed one image or file per submission. This new functionality is now accessible across the Gemini web client, as well as the Android and iOS applications. All of the newly released general-purpose Gemini AI models support this multi-file uploading feature.
Gemini Can Now Discuss Up to 10 Images at Once
Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs and Gemini, shared the news in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Users can now upload 10 images or files, or a mix of both, in a single interaction. Woodward encouraged users to report any other features they find lacking or inconvenient on the platform.
Team members from Gadgets 360 were able to utilize this feature in both the free and Gemini Advanced versions of the platform. However, at the time of writing, the feature was not yet visible on the Android or iOS applications, suggesting a phased rollout that may soon broaden its availability across all platforms.
✅ Papercut fixed: @GeminiApp now lets you upload multiple files at the same time.
Sorry we didn’t have this before – if you see other little annoying things like this, drop them here! We’ll aim to fix the most common things that cause grumpiness.

To take advantage of this new functionality, users can click the plus icon located on the left side of the text field to access their gallery or upload files. They can select multiple files by long pressing (using Shift key + select on Windows desktop) or by tapping the plus icon repeatedly. Previously, clicking this icon would prompt a message indicating that users needed to replace an existing file.
When users attempt to add more than 10 files, they will now receive a notification stating, “Some of your files could not be uploaded because you can only upload 10 attachments at a time.”
This enhancement streamlines the process for users wishing to pose questions to Gemini regarding multiple documents simultaneously. Although similar actions can be performed through NotebookLM or by creating Gems, the ability to do so within the main interface offers greater convenience, especially for those with specific inquiries about their files.
