Frank West, the photojournalist known for his zombie-slaying escapades, is set to make a comeback in “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster,” an updated iteration of the classic 2006 game. The remaster, initially announced last week, has received an official release date during the Capcom Next showcase on Tuesday. Players can expect to get their hands on “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster” starting September 19 on PC as well as on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, with pre-orders now available across all platforms.

Capcom offered a detailed gameplay overview for “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster” at its summer showcase, highlighting several new features and graphical enhancements. Built using the RE Engine, the remastered title will boast improved visuals, an enhanced control scheme, 3D audio functionality, and various quality-of-life upgrades to enhance gameplay. The publisher also revealed that the game will support 14 different text languages and nine voiceover languages.

Features of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

During the Capcom showcase, Ryosuke Murai, director of “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster,” announced that the game will operate at 4K resolution and a smooth 60 frames per second. The character models have been revamped for greater detail and refinement, while the iconic setting of Willamette Parkview Mall will be enhanced with real-time lighting and shadow effects. The game’s description on its Steam page highlights significant upgrades, stating, “All graphics, including characters and environments, have been renewed and greatly improved over the original, with enhanced details in facial expressions, material textures, and blood spatter.”

Improved gameplay features will include capabilities such as moving while aiming, more user-friendly controls, a new auto-save option, and an updated user interface. Additionally, Murai confirmed that there will be advancements in non-playable character (NPC) behaviors.

This isn’t the first remaster for “Dead Rising.” Originally launched solely for the Xbox 360 in 2006, the game was previously remastered for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016. The upcoming “Deluxe Remaster” marks its entry into the current generation of consoles.

Moreover, Capcom announced its intent to revive dormant intellectual properties that have not seen recent releases. In a press release, the company stated, “We are working to enhance corporate value by leveraging our rich library of content, including reviving past IPs as Deluxe Remasters to create high-quality titles.”

The digital format of “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster” will launch on September 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, followed by a physical version hitting the shelves in November. Gamers can choose between the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, with pre-orders currently open across all platforms.
