Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second installment of the remake trilogy of the beloved 1997 game, was launched in February. Developer Square Enix has not yet disclosed a release date or the official title for the concluding entry of the trilogy, but it is anticipated that the game will be available on PS5 during the current console generation.
The latest insights regarding the timeline for the trilogy’s third and final game emerged from interviews found in the newly released Final Fantasy 7 Remake Ultimania companion book. A user on X (@aitaikimochi) shared excerpts last week that suggest the storyline for the third installment has been finalized, with speculation that the game could potentially be released in three years.
Creative director Tetsuya Nomura noted in the published excerpts that voice recording for the third game could commence shortly. Furthermore, producer Yoshinori Kitase highlighted the smooth development process for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, attributing it to the retention of the same team that worked on the first title in the trilogy. Kitase indicated that the third part would similarly involve the same development team.
FF7 Remake Part 3 main story has already been completed, and Nomura thinks they will perhaps start voice recording in the near future.

Kitase suggested that the development timeline for the third game might mirror that of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, indicating a potential release in three years, which would target 2027. He mentioned that the development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth took three years to complete, with an additional year dedicated to DLC development.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth debuted on February 29, available exclusively for PS5. This title acts as the second chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 remake saga, following the release of Final Fantasy Remake in April 2020. Square Enix has yet to confirm the title for the final installment of the trilogy.
